UC's Academic Skills program has some great resources on learning skills (such as making the most out of tutorials and critical thinking) and writing skills (such as referening, writing a literature review etc).
UC has it's own Research Education Program moodle site. The site contains relevant and up to date information about research and is aimed at Higher Degree Research students. Some specific areas of research are here:
- Referencing guides, including Endnote and RefWorks information
- UC Ethics information for human and animal research
- other library based information for researchers
- Funding opportunities updated by UC's Research Office
The University of Washington also has a good open resource: Research 101 - an interactive online tutorial for students wanting an introduction to research skills. The tutorial covers the basics, including how to select a topic and develop research questions, as well as how to select, search for, find, and evaluate information sources
Our own Honours of Sport Studies handbook (PDF 263kb) sets out the research requirements of our Honours program.
Perhaps the most helpful of all sites, Will Hopkin's website offers lots of very useful information on research design and statistics, as it relates to Sport Studies, mainly the sciences.
